Cleo´s Hotel & Café "Irish
Coffee"
Opening in Germany in summer 2006
I´m
Cleo Martin and I live in Germany´s most famous wine region, the Rhine
valley,
the famous "wine street". Some years ago you´d have described
me as
a fat and bored mother, and in fact I was mentally lazy and without
dreams
and I felt I was only the working "appendix" of my family.
I never was
interested in Irish history and culture, I never had heard of
Irish dancing,
I never wanted to go to the Ireland or get in touch with its
people. Then in
July 16th 2000 I got a birthday present from my husband, a
ticket for "Feet
of Flames". I think I needn´t describe my
emotions when I saw Michael
onstage...., but he literally shook me awake,
the energy and confidence
flowing down to me caused me to change my life completely.
I
lost loads of weight (25 kg), I changed my style of clothes and of life, I
learnt
English to read Michael's website and get in touch with some other
fans (who
are now my best friends in the whole world!) I started to learn
Irish dancing
(started it in 2000 at the age of 42!, I´m exactly the same
age as Michael),
I studied correlated things about Irish music and history,
visited beautiful
Ireland several times, I took an exam as an Irish dancing
teacher (with certificate
from Dublin), am now leading my own little group
in Germany, and together
with my children have danced at the German
championships.
My
dream was to spread Michael´s energy and message out to my piece of the
world, and to meet himself in person. This last dream finally came true in
Dec. 2002 in Paris, and that night I got an enormous package of peace,
confidence
and encouragement from him to go after another dream.

This
hidden desire was an old bakery and café in my hometown, rundown and
left
empty at the time. Every time passing by the ruin my husband said "this
old
house could be restored beautifully - if I only knew what to make out of
it".
And I - meanwhile Irish in my heart and full of thoughts and energy of
Michael-
replied "now this has been a Café and I´m Irish, so let's turn
it
into an "Irish Coffee"! I´m already active in the tourist-business
- I´ve
got a cosy holiday-flat in my house, which I rent out,
so
we decided to turn the old house into a little hotel (B&B style) with an
Irish
themed café and pub. We bought the old building, made plans, persuaded
the bank to give us a very big amount of money in advance for the
restoration,
and are now on our way to rebuild and restore it to a nice
treasure with Michael
inspiration and Irish touch.
And
of course, with Michael and his achievements in my head there will be many Irish
and Michael related things in the hotel: a room with wooden floor and mirrors
as dancing studio, the entrance hall will be warmed by an Irish Fireplace, and
in the cafe will be served Irish coffee and Irish-inspired desserts. |  |
The
10 bedrooms will be NOT the usual hotel-style interior but each room will
be
decorated in different ethnic style, inspired by the rooms we have heard of in
Castlehyde,
some even being finished with original murals painted by an Irish
artist friend, and of
course there will be an Irish Cottage suite with warm
fireplace!
The
whole venture is a big risk, and without the encouragement and
confidence
of Michael to believe in yourself and in your dream, I would
never have dared
to think about ME doing such a thing. But as He did, I go
after my dream,
and it will come true. And of course I´m expecting some more
surprises
- with the hotel and in my life.....

emotions, my fantasy, my whole
world, for giving me dreams and the
confidence to turn them into reality,
for giving me inspiration and
encouragement and the inner peace to conquer
the obstacles, for making me
strong for life and soft for love.
